| Monthly | Yearly | |
|---|---|---|
| Gross salary | Rs 175,000 | Rs 2,100,000 |

How the tax is worked out
Rs 175,000 a month is Rs 2,100,000 a year. That falls in slab 3 of the 2026-27 table (Rs 1,200,001 to Rs 2,200,000 a year), where the tax is Rs 6,000 + 11% of the amount over Rs 1,200,000. The tax for the year is Rs 105,000; divided by 12, that is Rs 8,750 a month. Each extra rupee of salary at this level is taxed at 11%.
Compared with 2025-26
The tax is the same as in 2025-26: the Finance Act 2026 only changed the rates on salaries above Rs 2,200,000 a year.
What is not included
EOBI and provident fund come out of take-home pay too, if they apply. EOBI is 1% of the minimum wage, not of your Rs 175,000 salary. Provident fund depends on your basic salary and your scheme’s rate. Add both in the salary calculator. These figures assume salary is your only income, paid at the same amount for all 12 months.
