Treevoxa offers HR software development services for companies whose people processes have outgrown spreadsheets, or whose rules do not fit an off-the-shelf HR product. We build custom HRMS and HRIS systems: employee records, attendance, leave, payroll with approvals, claims and loans, recruitment and employee self-service. We are also the team behind MatrixHR, our own HR and payroll product, so we start from problems we have already solved in production. As an HR software development company, our HRIS software development starts from the employee record and builds out from there.
An HRMS software development company that runs its own HRMS
MatrixHR is live and sold by subscription. Building and running it taught us where HR software usually breaks:
- Attendance. Punches from ZKTeco terminals arrive through an agent on the customer's network and sit beside browser clock-ins, so nobody exports and retypes them.
- Approvals. Leave is approved from WhatsApp with a one-time code that expires; expenses and loans flow through approvals into payroll.
- Payroll controls. Whoever prepares a payroll run cannot approve it. Our guide to payroll approval controls explains why.
- Privacy inside the company. Managers see their team's attendance and leave, never pay, ID numbers or bank details.
- Outputs. PDF payslips, a bank payment file and a balanced QuickBooks journal.
A custom HRMS can start from this code, change what is different for you, and skip the months it takes to get the basics right.
HRMS software development: what we build
- Core HRIS: employee records, documents, contracts, departments and reporting lines.
- Time and attendance: terminals, browser and mobile clock-in, shifts and overtime rules.
- Leave: policies, balances, holidays and approvals.
- Payroll: earnings, deductions, taxes and contributions as dated rules, with a second approver.
- Claims and loans recovered through payroll.
- Recruitment, onboarding and reviews.
- Self-service on the web and on a React Native mobile app.
Tech stack for HR software projects
| Part | What we use |
|---|---|
| Back end | NestJS on Node.js, Prisma, PostgreSQL |
| Web | Next.js, React, TypeScript |
| Mobile | Expo (React Native) |
| Documents | PDF payslips, Excel imports and exports |
| Integrations | Biometric terminals, bank files, accounting journals, email |
This is the stack MatrixHR runs on. See NestJS development for the back end.
How an HR software project runs
- Map the policies. Leave rules, attendance rules, pay components, approvals and who may see what, written down.
- Written scope. Modules, integrations, data to migrate, milestones and price.
- Build in short cycles, tested against last month's real numbers.
- Parallel run. Run payroll in the new system beside the old one for at least one month and compare.
- Launch and support under a written agreement.
Engagement models for HR software work
- Fixed scope for a defined HRMS, paid per milestone.
- Source code plus customisation: buy MatrixHR with its source code and pay for the changes.
- White-label: agencies and resellers can sell MatrixHR under their own brand.
- Dedicated developer for an HR system that keeps evolving. See hire dedicated developers.
What custom HR software costs
A custom HRMS costs most where your rules are unusual: pay components, attendance policies, approvals and integrations. Starting from MatrixHR's code removes much of the rest. Compare with a subscription: MatrixHR itself costs from $25 a month on the pricing page. Our custom software development cost guide explains how quotes are built. We quote in US dollars, in writing.
Who HR software development is for
- Companies with unusual pay rules: piece rates, shift allowances, commissions or several pay cycles.
- Multi-site employers whose attendance comes from terminals, phones and browsers at once.
- Groups and resellers that need HR software for several companies under one system or one brand.
- Businesses outgrowing spreadsheets whose payroll depends on one person who knows the formulas.
What to send us for an HR software quote
Your leave and attendance policies, a sample payslip with every component explained, the approvals you use today, the devices you clock in with, and a rough headcount by site. That is enough for a first scoping call.
How do you migrate from our current HR system?
Employee records, balances and history are exported, mapped and imported, then checked with you. Payroll runs in parallel for at least a month before the old system is switched off.
Working across time zones on HR software projects
We work remotely with a daily overlap window in your working hours, agreed before the project starts. Payroll deadlines are written into the plan, so month-end never waits on a time zone.
